Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hollowbrook Road and Oscawana Lake Road in the Town of Putnam Valley on the report of an erratic driver on Monday, Feb. 25 around 10:30 a.m.

Upon arriving on scene and canvassing the area, the deputies observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations on Oscawana Lake Road.

Deputies tried to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle’s driver, later identified as 47-year-old Mark Decker of Lake Peekskill, allegedly turned into the Miranda Plaza, hit the curb and backed up, striking a patrol car in the process.

Further investigation revealed that Decker was allegedly impaired by drugs. He was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired (DWAI), a misdemeanor.

Decker was arraigned at the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court at a future date.
